Liverpool Hospital is located approximately 50 minutes drive from the Sydney CBD. It began as a tent hospital for convicts and soldiers 200 years ago and now provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
The Hospital is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
Liverpool City and south-western Sydney is home to people from diverse cultures, religious and languages, making our community vibrant and exciting. We are situated in one of the fastest-growing regions in Australia and sit within an education and health precinct, which includes the Ingham Institute of Applied Medical Research, a Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, the Clinical Schools of the University of NSW and University of Western Sydney, South West Private Hospital and South Western Sydney TAFE.
Our Hospital has recently undergone a major redevelopment which has provided many exciting new clinical services and advanced medical infrastructure to help meet the health care needs of our community and the District.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the University of Western Sydney and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
Transport
Liverpool Hospital is easily accessible from the city by train or taxi. The journey is 33kms from the city (about 50 minutes by train and 45 minutes by car). It costs approximately AUS$90.00 by cab one-way. Trains run approximately every 10-20 minutes from Sydney’s CBD. You can find details about train times online at http://www.cityrail.info. Liverpool Hospital is only a five minute walk from Liverpool station.
Parking
There are three parking stations at Liverpool Hospital. An underground car park (P1) is located below the Thomas and Rachel Moore Education Centre, corner of Goulburn and Elizabeth Streets. A multi-storey car park (P2) is located at the corner of Campbell and Forbes Streets. There is a third car park (P3) entrance on the corner of Lachlan Street and Hart Street at entrance J.
